Mothering Maxim - Growth

If you have your sight, you are blessed. If you have insight, you are a thousand times blessed.

Mum Moment - Set Growing Goals

Mum, your children aren’t the only ones in your home still growing. You need to Set Some Growing Goals for yourselves.

How’s your dream life? Not the kind that happens when you’re asleep, but the kind that happens when you think about what you want to be when you grow up. In the midst of meeting others’ needs, we often forget our own needs.

When’s the last time you asked yourself: If I had no obstacles in my way or no fear of failure, what would I do? How would I like to grow in the next year? The next five years?

“Shoot for the moon, shoot for the sun. Even if you miss, you will land among the stars,” one television journalist told a recent class of college graduates. Dream about where you want to go. Then take tiny steps towards those big dreams with a plan about how to get there. Choose one way to get an inch closer to that dream this week.

Define some areas of your life where you’d like to grow. Spiritually, in your relationship with Jesus. In some life skills, such as parenting, finances, or interior decorating. In leadership skills, such as team building, conflict resolution, or empowerment.

Find some resources. Classes on-line. Books. Documentaries or thinking programmes on television. Find a mentor.

Being the mum of young children changes our priorities. But it doesn’t change our need to grow in order to keep becoming the person God created us to be.
